UNIVERSITY SYNAGOGUE’S ANNUAL “BIBLICAL TRIAL” THE PEOPLE VS. SARAH & ABRAHAM: A CASE OF CHILD ENDANGERMENT

First Families.  They are a reflection of us and we love their stories.  We especially love their drama.  And some, well they just can’t get a break.  Just when you thought it was over, they get pulled back in!  In 2009, Abraham was tried for the attempted murder of Isaac.

And now, five years later, Sarah and Abraham together face charges of child endangerment for casting Abraham’s other son, Ishmael, into the desert with few provisions for survival.

Join UCI Law School Dean and University Synagogue member Erwin Chemerinsky and Loyola Law School Professor Laurie Levenson as they argue the case of “The People vs. Sarah and Abraham” before you, the audience. Featuring Justice William Bedsworth of the California Court of Appeal, presiding.

After submission of the “evidence,” there will be a lively discussion on timeless and timely moral, ethical and philosophical themes featuring Rabbi Arnold Rachlis, Prof. Tammi Schneider and Reverend Paul Tellstrom answering your questions
